Ron was a
managing partner and owner of Ron Volper, Inc.
(sales and sales management consulting) in White
Plains. His clients include a number of Fortune 500
companies including American Express, AT&T and
Hilton Hotels. VHe passed away November 11, 2013.
Cherished husband of Hillary, adored father of Erik
and Amanda (Sandy Krohn), beloved brother of
Adrienne Schere (Alan), Steven (Joyce), Vicki (Mark
Goldstein). Missed terribly by loving family,
devoted friends. Admired for his kindness, wisdom,
generosity, loyalty, business acumen, and
delightful sense of humor. An irreplaceable mensch
among men.
"I remember Ron with great Bamboo brotherly love
from our days at House of Bamboo in the mid-1960's
at Queens College. Ron was a three letter guy in
academics, athletics, and social activities. For a
weekend in late August 1968, before my last year of
law school, we went on a road trip up to Lake
George. Two things stand out from that weekend
which I will never forget. We went canoeing in
Lake George and capsized in the wake of a large
boat in choppy waters far from shore. We were
fully clothed and had our wallets in our pant
pockets. We were both good swimmers and managed to
get back to the canoe and hang on until we got
rescued. When we got back to shore we had soaked
draft cards, social security cards and money. The
hotels in Lake George were fully booked that
weekend, so we then had to spend the night in a
camping ground without any gear. The next day we
took off to the Raleigh Hotel in the Catskills
where my girlfriend was staying. Even though the
Raleigh was also fully booked, we managed to get
inside the hotel and got to see the famous song and
dance act of Hinds, Hinds and Dad. Late that night
we had to leave the hotel because we did not have a
room, and ended up watching an adult comedian at a
small hotel nearby with my girlfriend, before
heading home. Well, a year later the following
August, Ron attended my wedding to my girlfriend
from the Raleigh. I guess I spent my last singles
weekend with Ron, because very soon after that I
was engaged.
We lost touch,
but reconnected via e-mail and reminisced around
the time of the last Bamboo reunion in 2012. Dr.
Volper had gotten his PhD and was very proud of the
publication of his new book "Up Your Sales in a
Down Market." The book had been endorsed by many
well know CEO's and senior executives from
companies such as E-Trade and Heineken, and had
been recommended by "Business Week." The book
showed both large and small businesses how they
could grow in a tough economy, through the
discussion of 20 strategies. The book was
available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Ron was sorry to
miss our 2012 reunion and asked me to give warm
hugs to his Bamboo friends, as he was getting more
sentimental with age. Ron wanted to attend our
next reunion and it is very sad and disappointing
that he will not make it. It is hard to believe he
passed away just a year later at the age of 67. I
am sure Ron will be at the reunion in spirit in
2018 and I will hug at least a few Bamboo brothers
for him. Ron, you will be missed!"
