College Bowl To Start Wed. by Laura Wagman College Bowl, a semi-annual round of contests sponsored by CHP, and similar to the TV program, is about to begin. The competition this term is expected to be keen, with more than fifty houseplans on campus participating. Laura Wagman, CHP rep for Drift Inn and Michael Solomon, the current president of House of Bamboo, were appointed co-chairmen. They succeed Barry Kasven of Playboy's Penthouse and Larry Hecht. The debut of the tournament has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 23, and applications and rules have already been distributed to the competing house plans. Among the teams slated to play on that date are Continental and Dew Drop, Kingston and Aurora, and Tip Toe Inn and Empire House. Because of the extreme difficulty in obtaining vacant rooms, matches will take place only on Wednesdays this semester. House plans will be notified of their scheduling through the mail, and will be given as much time as possible to prepare for their matches. The competition is being planned with the same format as last term. Two contests of 25 minutes each will be held in each of the reserved rooms. The final game, predicted to be one of the most exciting, will be of fifty minute duration. Last term's upset victory demonstrates the unpredictability of the contest's outcome, as State House defeated Playboys' (the previous year's champion), to gain the fall championship. This term's winner will play State for the coveted Central House Plan trophy, to be presented at the Champagne Ball. People interested in moderating, keeping score, or judging on days when they are not competing should contact the College Bowl chairmen in the CHP office, CMC 102. All CHP members are invited to watch the contest if they are not scheduled to play on that day. Hand in your applications early, and come and watch your team match wits with champions. ----------------------------------- Alfred
