Kingston Takes Winners Title ... Another victory for Kingston! This time after two well-placed games with House of Bamboo, Kingston won the championship of the winners division.

Jeff Brook of Bamboo led his team to an early 3-0 lead. Kingston, scored only one point and "Spike" Kurlaiizik, not warmed up yet, was unable to bring his team out from behind. The game was then interrupted by an accident. A fellow member of Bamboo tumbled onto Jeff Brook while Jeff was trying to retrieve a spike. He ended up with a bloody nose and couldn't play for the rest of the game. Who said volleyball is a non-contact sport? Kingston made a comeback but Bamboo still kept a point lead. "Spike" Berkowitz of Bamboo was tight at the net and with Noodles making up for his mistakes in the beginning of the game, Kingston pulled ahead. Bamboo came back tying the score at 6 a piece. They took the lead when Richie Levine executed a difficult spike. With both teams making a good effort the score was again knotted at 8-8. The lead seesawed back and forth until Kingston finally squeaked out an 11-9 victory.

At the beginning of game two, Bamboo jumped ahead again. Jeff Brook returned to the game and gave his team a 2-0 lead. At 2-1 "Spike" Berkowitz got the ball back Bamboo but not for long. Due to two good plays by Elson and Spar the ball returned to Kingston. R. Peter Kushner spiked to end a long volley and tied the score for Kingston. At 4-3, Kingston's lead, Bamboo called time out. When they returned, Bamboo broke the serve but still couldn't hold Kingston back. Gross made an impossible play from outside of the court, but "spike" Berkowitz, living up to his reputation, brought his team out from a trailing 8-3 to 8-6. Schecter spiked trying to break Kingston's lead of 9-7, but Gluck served the last two points for a Kingston triumph of 11-7. Both teams played with enthusiasm and cooperatively as a team should. Kingston now has one more game to play against the winner of the Losers Circuit.
