Barry
Weiss (an original HOB member) was a simple,
unpretentious humanitarian with a brilliant and
innovative mind.
Born in New York on February 10, 1943, he was the
first in his family to get a higher education.
After entering college at age 16, he went on to
complete medical school. After completing his
residency at Bellevue Hospital in New York, where
he was chief resident, he entered the Berry Plan
and joined the Air Force. After being stationed in
Panama City, Florida he moved to Dunedin, where he
practiced his specialty--Radiology.
He was revered by his colleagues for his expertise
and diagnostic acumen, by his patients for his
kindness, and by his co-workers for his easy-going
manner and funny sense of humor.
Over the course of his career, he cared for and
improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of
people. He was a devoted, loyal, and loving
husband, a wonderful, supportive father, and a
strong contributor to the community. He passed away
unexpectedly on March 21, 2010.
